If an employee dies, please tell the NYPF within three working days of notification of the death. Please provide details of the next of kin if you have these; the NYPF will contact them regarding any benefits that may be due.
i-Connect user
- Enter the employee as a leaver on your monthly i-Connect return. You must submit leaver information on the next available return.
- The NYPF will request Assumed Pensionable Pay separately (needed to calculate career average (CARE) benefits).
Not an i-Connect user
- Submit a Leaver Form. You must do this as soon as possible after the date of death.
- Remember to complete the Assumed Pensionable Pay section on the Leaver Form (needed to calculate career average (CARE) benefits).
